<17e:matrix.org> Hello. I'm confused. I want to calculate my chance for solo mining. Since I'm from Europe, I'm confused about the decimal devider.
-
m-relay
<17e:matrix.org> Is it 6000 KH/s or 6000 H/s -> 6 KH/s?
-
m-relay
<17e:matrix.org> I guess it's 6000 H/s :-)
-
m-relay
<mark:chat.nicecrew.digital> Just curious, why solo mining and not p2pool? You will most likely not hit a block
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> p2pool is the way
-
m-relay
<mark:chat.nicecrew.digital> Lmao @ ErCiccione getting banned again, was he sperging in another room?
-
m-relay
<17e:matrix.org> Somehow I remember people here said solo mining can hit a block once in 2 or 3 months.
-
m-relay
<17e:matrix.org> With the values I posted above I get 0.001 XMR per day on average. Doesn't seem that much :-(
-
sech1
Block reward is 0.6 XMR so you need 600 days on average to hit a block when solo mining
-
m-relay
<17e:matrix.org> I'm using p2pool mini
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> great!
-
m-relay
<ninoni:matrix.org> How to find a Bisq room on Element chat ? I never know what to type in a search box. When I type just Bisq it wants to create a new room. The same with # Bisq.

<metrics:unredacted.org> Guys where you exchange BTC for Monero?
-
m-relay
<aremor:matrix.org> Retoswap.com or trocador.app
-
m-relay
<aremor:matrix.org> Trocador is easier and faster but read the swapper ratings on the site. Kycnot.me has good reviews on those swappers as well. Suggest to connect to call of them from tor browser.
-
m-relay
<aremor:matrix.org> Trolling once again
-
m-relay
<metrics:unredacted.org> How Tor can help if I need to buy BTC on me?
-
m-relay
<aremor:matrix.org> Just fewer parties with your IP. Less == less possibility of leaks
-
nioc
also tradeogre
-
m-relay
<dr_douchebag:matrix.org> If I run my own node over clearnet does dandelion++ protect my IP or do I need to run it over tor?
-
m-relay
<monero.arbo:matrix.org> it protects it fairly effectively from other (potential spy) nodes but does not protect it from e.g. your ISP
-
zzz123
i bet exodus, a wallet that lets you swap xmr, sends 'analytics' directly to the nsa and/or doj tbh
-
m-relay
<monero.arbo:matrix.org> the --tx-proxy option for monerod can let you broascast transactions via i2p or tor but otherwise run on clearnet
-
zzz123
a virtual machines running an os inside of your os with mullvad in the vm prior to doing anything is key opsec
-
zzz123
virtual machine*
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> No and yes
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> Sometimes
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:monero.social> If you dont have incoming connections, it doesnt really protect you from from spy nodes
-
zzz123
i can code and exploit monero clients - what are the chief issues the community is concerned w/ in opsec re: ic/etc.
-
zzz123
if someone would like to explain how 'spy nodes' operate that'd be a start
-
m-relay
<monero.arbo:matrix.org> do you only function as a stem for other d++ txs if you have incoming connections or something? or is this more a concern about being eclipsed with spies
-
m-relay
<boog900:monero.social> it does you still only stem to 1 peer, without d++ you would broadcast to all
-
m-relay
<monero.arbo:matrix.org> they mostly just collect data that all nodes have access to but do not normally log
-
m-relay
<boog900:monero.social> yeah stemming is one way, from inbound to outbound connections
-
m-relay
<monero.arbo:matrix.org> mm yes ok I vaguely recall this

<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> If youre sybilled by spy nodes, it does not..
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> It stems to a spy node -> fails -> stems to a different spy node -> fails -> only tx's being stemmed are the ones that come from your rpc port
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> If you HAVE incoming connections, the spy node does not know the origin is you
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Because youll also be stemming other peoples tx (which you received via inc port)
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> It stems to a spy node -> fails -> stems to a different spy node -> fails -> only tx's being stemmed are the ones that come from your rpc port = origin of tx ->confirmed
-
zzz123
hm. if i understood the architecture more i could probably emulate realistic monero nodes. that's whack but
i.imgur.com/GJ4tlTf.png i can def hop the network and merge into any node in the network assuming it's listening
-
zzz123
emulate realistic monero nodes that are spy nodes*
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> If at first step, the tx is not received from another node, it can also be deduced that your node was the origin
-
m-relay
<boog900:monero.social> Well yes but if you are completely sybilled there is no protocol that could protect your IP using clear net
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> anonymous-inbound
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> And tx-proxy
-
m-relay
<boog900:monero.social> but that is not clear net
-
zzz123
goddamnit i need to fix this
-
zzz123
and come to understand it first
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> anonymous-inbound stems to clearnet bt default
-
zzz123
not today
-
zzz123
i need to fix bitcoin too. core coders are retarded dei clowns
-
m-relay
<boog900:monero.social> You are using Tor
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> if the sender has disable_noise enabled, then it fluffs
-
zzz123
-
zzz123
exploit code once you have bitcoind running =
pastebin.com/raw/skn7DhP9 (edit 127.0.0.1 to your remote ip)
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Yes, d++ doesnt protect you on clearnet if youre properly sybilled
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> oh no someone triggered my "DEI" political keyword notification
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> But d++ works with tor/i2p as well, and throws off the clearnet stuff
-
m-relay
<boog900:monero.social> My point was nothing can, but d++ still helps with no incoming connections providing you aren't completely sybilled
-
zzz123
i hope nobody with a botnet uses that exploit code to remotely disable the corn network
-
zzz123
bbk
-
zzz123
bbl*
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> If i use tor but have no clearnet inc connections, you (as a spy) cant tell diff between me and some NAT normie w/ no incoming connections
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> I dont think you have to be completely sybilled, just unlucky enough to stem to 1 sybil
-
m-relay
<boog900:monero.social> You but the chance of you doing that is lower with d++
-
m-relay
<boog900:monero.social> Yes but the chance of you doing that is lower with d++
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> 75% of nodes are spy nodes :P
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> 3/4 chance of stemming to a spy, or something like that lol
-
zzz123
so basically monero isn't whatsoever secure to use. it should be treated like any other cryptocurrency in terms of practical opsec (hopping to hide origin ip)?
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> If you want to hide origin ip, definitively, use tx-proxy
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> If you rely on clearnet only, then you should enable incoming connections. Aside from that, youre playing a statistics game.
-
m-relay
<boog900:monero.social> Monerod prefers IPs in different /16 subnets, so the chance is a lot lower than that
-
uncle_rae
anyone here attend the no-wallet-left-behind meeting?
-
m-relay
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Noted
-
m-relay
-
m-relay
<forbidden_island:ihazurinter.net> what's the best way to buy monero without KYC?
-
m-relay
<forbidden_island:ihazurinter.net> should I start mining?
-
zzz123
find a security vulnerability in monero and win up to 30 xmr!
-
zzz123
tbh
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> not 30 xmr
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> mining on xmr is not profitable
-
m-relay
<forbidden_island:ihazurinter.net> whats the expected loss then
-
m-relay
<forbidden_island:ihazurinter.net> with an average 0.15/kwh electricity bill
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> i don't know tbh but I've same electricity price, I would say that you pay 4x what you earn
-
m-relay
<forbidden_island:ihazurinter.net> WOW
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> I've same electricity price, I would say that you pay 4x what you earn
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> yeah xmr mining is not profitable
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> unless you have free electricity
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> now i know what you are asking
-
m-relay
<forbidden_island:ihazurinter.net> stealing from mommy and daddy 🤑
-
m-relay
<forbidden_island:ihazurinter.net> i've done a lot of bad things but I will never do this btw
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> "But how do we have that much hashrate" => 10% free electricity, 30% botnets, 60% nice guys that want to help
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> i mean if your dad and mom are piece of shit, why not. But i doubt its the case, always cherish parents
-
m-relay
<forbidden_island:ihazurinter.net> they're not perfect but I rather not steal
