Well, I thought those were DVDs, CDs have tiny capacity. First - they can have DRM as well. Second - it would be far more convenient to rip the CD anyway and throw it away as they take up too much space compaed to hard drives. Third - this would not include later patches. And fourth - some games don't evevn have physical releases.

Although I don't know how easy it is to remove Steam's DRM, if it's easy, backing up would be no problem.

But even without... People here just can't afford a lot of games. And I tried them prior to buying, so that I don't go in blind.
