agent314
so are we like fine in terms of this over 50% attack from qubic?
-
agent314
also is this a legitimate p2pool web-site
p2pool.in/?
-
br-m
<rbrunner7> Depends how you define "over 50%". There were periods where they could get more than 50% of all blocks, thanks to "selfish mining". As far as I know they so far never achieved more than 50% of the total network hashrate, which would be much more dangerous.
-
agent314
wait nvm that's bitcoin
-
br-m
<rbrunner7> Yeah, ours is
p2pool.io
-
agent314
from what i gathered, the best way to counter the qubic attack is to mine with p2pool
-
agent314
or any >50% attack it seems
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> Yea
-
br-m
<ct:xmr.mx> is the bridge supposed to include IP? Seems unnecessary at best
-
br-m
<ct:xmr.mx> IP in the user name shown to matrix users i mean
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> They don't have their IRC cloak set.
-
agent314
i'm behind a vpn
-
nioc
DataHoarder: ^^
-
agent314
you can use vpns on libera you just need to sasl-login, as far as i understand
-
DataHoarder
The bridge includes the host mask whatever it is
-
rbrunner
Useless post from IRC to check what my "host mask" is
-
agent314
btw haveno is legit, bravo to devs -- i already traded and no issues whatsoever very cool
-
br-m
<rbrunner7> What? I changed my display name to include my IP? Woah :)
-
br-m
<rbrunner7> Nice try, bridge
-
agent314
the only thing missing is chime as one of the pay methods
-
agent314
(well, nto the only thing missing but one of the obvious)
-
agent314
i wonder if it's possible to write a javascript client that will run as a website like localmonero or maybe something compiled to wasm
-
agent314
the main obstacle i foresee is i dont think you can create a tor connection with just javascript and tor seems to be rather fundamental for haveno
-
agent314
like, there are quite a few traders on havenoreto but i think ideally we would see every trader that was on localmonero moving to haveno and we are not quite there yet :)
-
agent314
i havent heard anyone verbalize or observe this yet so i might as well: when LM announced they're pulling out there was a bunch of panic buying but also a lot of coordinating. I contacted a few traders that I already did business with and we all exchanged just like Telegram or Matrix ids. So basically now you have a whole bunch of micro-cosms of like an XMR seller who maybe knows 10-15 XMR buyers
-
agent314
and they all just use like Element to communicate.
-
agent314
it'd be probably beneficial to somehow get all these isolated mini-networks to like intermingle somehow
-
agent314
sorry im gonna stfu now, i'm probably just saying nonsense
-
br-m
<usb:envs.net> i wanna know what bridge they're using for this
-
br-m
<usb:envs.net> its cool
-
br-m
<usb:envs.net> what transaction type did you do? > <agent314> btw haveno is legit, bravo to devs -- i already traded and no issues whatsoever very cool
-
br-m
<w10290876:unredacted.org> what is this bridged to?
-
br-m
<usb:envs.net> im a bit scared doing my first retoswap ngl
-
br-m
<usb:envs.net> @w10290876:unredacted.org: IRC
-
br-m
<w10290876:unredacted.org> i just did my first kyc-less trade on xmrbazaar, it was fast and easy
-
br-m
<w10290876:unredacted.org> i want to get more into monero, it seems cool
-
br-m
<datahoarder> @usb:envs.net: made it myself :)
-
br-m
<datahoarder> @rbrunner7: before I did whois to all users to get that, but yeah, that's very spammy. I now only WHOIS users on their first message after reconnect
-
br-m
<usb:envs.net> @datahoarder: is it on github? i wanna do something like that clean but discord <--> matrix
-
DataHoarder
this is very specific to irc
-
DataHoarder
-
br-m
<usb:envs.net> DataHoarder: thats fine, i just wanna know how you got accounts to join/leave rather than using one m-relay account like before
-
DataHoarder
tl;dr matrix appservice
-
DataHoarder
-
Cindy
lol
-
DataHoarder
I was running the bridge via my custom homeserver until monero.social added appservice registration :)
-
Cindy
appservice is garbage
-
Cindy
if your server dies, good luck kicking the users you made
-
DataHoarder
I have custom code for that!
-
DataHoarder
but yeah, the idea is to run it on the same server that the community is
-
DataHoarder
the last thing I did before abandoning by custom server for testing is unregister users :)
-
DataHoarder
no other solution in Matrix for this scale of users, anyhow.
-
DataHoarder
has many rough edges or shitty stuff
-
Cindy
i remember when libera had a matrix bridge
-
Cindy
that used appservice
-
DataHoarder
that's different
-
DataHoarder
I'm talking about the API
-
DataHoarder
not matrix-appservice-irc
-
Cindy
but when they pulled the plug (due to issues they had with the matrix organization and shit)
-
DataHoarder
which is the code they used, on their custom homeserver
-
Cindy
they left behind a TON of users
-
Cindy
that nobody could kick
-
DataHoarder
that has no relevance if it's appservice or not
-
Cindy
or get rid of
-
DataHoarder
just that it's your custom homeserver
-
br-m
<usb:envs.net> just realised you guys are in irc rn
-
DataHoarder
:)
-
br-m
<usb:envs.net> thats how good it is XD
-
Cindy
DataHoarder: you didn't let me finish :P
