Hey, I know you can buy XMR from exchanges but does anyone know of any companies that pay directly in XMR? Curious if that kind of thing has been heard of or if everyone gets XMR from swaps/exchanges and selling stuff.
-
Sindy_
Guest42: usually illegal companies
-
Sindy_
or companies operating within financially sanctioned countries
-
Guest42
Yeah, that's kinda what I figured. Shame.
-
Guest42
Thanks anyways. :)
-
BlueyHealer
To be fair, A TON of people here work unofficially for cash so there's at least nothing unusual about that.
-
BlueyHealer
IDK how it usually goes, but from what I've heard, it's very common.
-
Sindy_
i'd like to work for XMR
-
Sindy_
or get a source of XMr
-
Sindy_
XMR*
-
Guest42
Yeah, a fairly large number of people here get their paychecks in cash or cash checks to cash. Mostly poorer individuals
-
Guest42
Yeah, I was curious to see if I could work part time for XMR but had pretty low expectations. Getting a job to payout in BTC is rare and BTC is much more mainstream these days
-
Sindy_
same honestly

<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Cake > <Guest42> Hey, I know you can buy XMR from exchanges but does anyone know of any companies that pay directly in XMR? Curious if that kind of thing has been heard of or if everyone gets XMR from swaps/exchanges and selling stuff.
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Is probably the most obvious example
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Stack wallet / cypherstack probably allows payment in xmr as well
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Guest42: Btc isnt used as money, so not surprising that ppl dont get paid with it
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> @ravfx:xmr.mx Should I use wallet restore weight to find back my monero from seed ?
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> or anyone who know how to REALLY restore from seed !
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> what's the question
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> 1. input seed. If seed is 16 words, move to step 3.
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> 2. Input the wallet "restore height" (or date). This must be a block height or date that is before the first transaction in the wallet.
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> 3. congrats. you're done
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> Where should I input the restore height from the gui at
getmonero.org please?
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> I had set the height from getmonero gui and it still provided the 0x00 xmr
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> but that is crazy @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx !! I still do not have my xmrs on the other account!! I can only access to it using my private key!!
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> You need to explain the steps that youve taken
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx : 1 recover from privatre key and password 2 go to setting from the mobnero with xmr: under wallet restore heigth, uder blocks, get the number 3 lock the account 4 restore from seed, set this value instead of date from the gui and restore
-
Sindy
gogo2464: what did you set the restore height to
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> @Sindy
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr> If you recover from private key and password, you should be asked to input a restore height/date there as well.
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr> If you dont add one, it will select one ~today
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> Sindy as well as anyone: is it private for privacy or security ?
-
Sindy
no
-
Sindy
disclosing the restore height doesn't compromise your privacy or security
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> fine! then does it changes often the restore eight?
-
Sindy
no
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> my restore eight is 3468211 .
-
Sindy
the restore height is from when the wallet was enerated
-
Sindy
generated*
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr> the restore height is you wallet start height. It doesnt know anythinf that happened before that block
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> Fine I will just no tell each day what I do with this height
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> good
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> then
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> how could I restore ?
-
Sindy
the restore height is for skipping unnecessary lookups with blocks that were mined before the wallet even existed
-
Sindy
if you set it too new, you might skip certain transactions
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> The restore height you sent is a couple weeks ago. Was the wallet created after this? > <@gogo2464:matrix.org> Fine I will just no tell each day what I do with this height
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> a couple months go(
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Ago*
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> If yes, does the bottom left side of the gui show "synchronized" ?
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx no idea. Could we see that latter please?
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> WAIT
-
snake
what would happen if you set the block restore height really low, like at 0 would it just run slower?
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> In the gui, bottom left. What does it show?
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> should the wallet name be exactly samle name ?
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> snake: It would restore from genesis. Yes. Very slow
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> @gogo2464:matrix.org: Doesnt matter
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> snka:e do you measn I could remove 1,2,3 to the wright to make it work
-
snake
yeah im never gonna mess around with getting a new wallet or trying to keep old ones. seems like a headache
-
Sindy
do you know when you made your wallet
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> gogo, i think your problem is simple: your wallet is not synces
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Synced
-
Sindy
or at least, approxmiately when
-
Sindy
like what month
-
Sindy
what year
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Please check the bottom left of GUI to see if the wallet is synced
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx me ??
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Yes you
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> might be the issue ! yes ! not the name?
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> No, not the name
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Can you answer the question please?
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Is the wallet synced?
-
snake
gogo2464 if you set it back that far it might take way too long i wouldn't recommend it
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx it is "syncronizing"
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> from network status
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> should I just wait ?
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> network status: connected
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> but still 30 000 blcoks laoding
-
Sindy
just wait for it sync
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> GREAT!
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> yes you were right !
-
br-m
<gogo2464:matrix.org> @Sindy

br-m

Sindy
