<muffin:catgirl.cloud> hello people, i have tried proxying my node through i2p with this guide:
-
br-m
-
br-m
<muffin:catgirl.cloud> however even when i replicate it perfectly (checked everything multiple times)
-
br-m
<muffin:catgirl.cloud> it doesn't seem to work, does anyone know why?
-
br-m
<muffin:catgirl.cloud> in my i2pd webconsole, the monero-node tunnels also shows the port as 0 instead of the specified 108085
-
br-m
<muffin:catgirl.cloud> i suspect i am messing up the ports, not very knowledgeable about them
-
br-m
<jpk68:matrix.org> You have the correct ports set in the config file?
-
br-m
<muffin:catgirl.cloud> @jpk68:matrix.org: in i2pd’s config? yez
-
br-m
<ricky.i2p:matrix.org> You will have to have a total of three things created; two hidden services and one client tunnel. The client tunnel is just allowing monerod to proxy through i2p via SOCKS on port 4447. Than the two hidden services will have to be a standard server, using localhost and having one port set at 18085 and the other set at 18089. I [... too long, see

<jpk68:matrix.org> @muffin:catgirl.cloud: Sorry, I'm not able to tell what the issue might be from that info :/
-
br-m
<ricky.i2p:matrix.org> Port 18089 will be the public one, while 18085 and 4447 are used in your monerod to allow for connecting through i2p
-
br-m
<muffin:catgirl.cloud> @ricky.i2p:matrix.org: the .dat files point to the same location on the document i sent, so its the same b32 address

<ricky.i2p:matrix.org> Mine are two different addresses

-
br-m

br-m
<ricky.i2p:matrix.org> If connecting via Monero.com or Cake Wallet, you will have to have the I2P or I2Pd application running in the background, and have the SOCKS5 proxy set on the remote node connection in the Monero wallet app

<ricky.i2p:matrix.org> For this monerod command, the b32.i2p address shown is the 18085 hidden service port. It is my understanding that both the 18085 and 18089 tunnels/ports will have to be two separate b32 addresses. It may not work if both use the same address or DAT file
-
br-m
<ricky.i2p:matrix.org> The 18085 tunnel you don't have to backup the DAT file, as you can just create a new one and point it to there if need be. The 18089 tunnel/DAT is the one that would need to be backed up if you want the remote node address to stay consistent

<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> @jpk68:matrix.org: i2pd webconsole is weird sometimes
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> @muffin:catgirl.cloud: no

<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> it could be working and just requires more time for the route to be established > <@muffin:catgirl.cloud> hello people, i have tried proxying my node through i2p with this guide:

<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> @yusufkhan:matrix.org: greetings

<yusufkhan:matrix.org> How Long Can it take for me to mine a block using one Ryzen 9 @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> there are online calculators for that, but id guess a couple months
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> Oh Ok sry for the Disturbance in the chat, Excuse me.

<atori_0xbdc3ab4e:matrix.org> Liquid has confidential amounts, so does monero. Did we base our tech on liquid tech? > <@ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> where do you get the confidential amounts part from?

<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> yes, but what does that have to do with the hack?
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> confidential transactions was done by adam back
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> it was never implemented on bitcoin, and was implemented on monero instead. ringct
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> we didnt base our anything on liquid
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx How many XMR do u have, IF i may ask.
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> but we did use a form of confidential transactions
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> @yusufkhan:matrix.org: 60000, give or take
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> all obtained illegally, i might add
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> Oh Really?, Cool U might as well be Elon Musk with that amount of XMR
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> OH Illegal U say.
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> Thats sad
-
br-m
<jpk68:matrix.org> SAD!
-
br-m
<jpk68:matrix.org> Many such cases
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> its only illegal in 1 or 2 countries in the world
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> and they are both in the southern hemisphere, where i dont live
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> Hmmm.
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> Did u buy or Mine them?
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> And if so Solo or Pool. I would love to know these if youd like
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> @yusufkhan:matrix.org: depends on how quickly you want to see rewards, or how consistently
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> you could mine a block tomorrow, next week, or 2 years from now. if you solo mine, you accept all of that variance and potentially not getting anything for years
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> but you also could hit a block, or multiple, in a short period of time
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> if you p2pool or pool mine, you get regular, predictable payouts
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> if per 10 mins or so a block is mined and a pool is mining for 10 mins but if a solo miner finds a blocl will the pool get nothing?
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> blocks are every 2 mins. yes the pool will get nothing if a solo miner mins the block
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> the solo miner gets 100% of the block reward and transaction fees
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> Hmm 0.6 XMR right.
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> yes
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> What did u do, Solo or Pool?
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> solo
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> but thats because, when i i was mining with phones, i was lucky and hit blocks far more often than i should have
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> Cool! Hardware info, so i could get some kind of guide
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> so im happy with the variance, and if i dont mine any blocks, its ok.. especially in the winter
-
nioc
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> confidential transactions was done by adam back <<>> I thought it was greg maxwell
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> nioc, youre probably right
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> Can i mine on 1Kh/s and hit a block? is there a chance?
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> my ai is faulty
-
nioc
my senility is working well
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> @yusufkhan:matrix.org: yes there is a chance, but there is also a chance that you wont
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> so if you just run it, and walk away, and check back in 2 years, you could have hit 1 block, 5 blocks, or 0
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> @ofrnAI What hardware did u use to mine, Can u name the specs please.
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> i used a bunch of phones and tablets that had a combined, maybe 2kh, and hit prbably 3 mblocks in a couple months ((where it should have been a couple years)
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> these days i use an old ryzen 5
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> that has about 6kh
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> How did you get 60000 With that.
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> i didnt
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> 🫡🫡
-
br-m
<slowbeardigger:matrix.org> lol what
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> Oh Sry, Then How much did u make from the phones?
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> @slowbeardigger:matrix.org: my 60000xmr
-
br-m
<pyratevevo:matrix.org> Use Gupax and mine on nano pool. @yusufkhan:matrix.org
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> @yusufkhan:matrix.org: probably like 2-3 xmr over 4+ years
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> @pyratevevo:matrix.org: Will Try to Thanks.
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx: Solo?
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> @yusufkhan:matrix.org: yes
-
br-m
<slowbeardigger:matrix.org> @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx: ah the ones you got by selling illegal copies of zootopia
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> would have been like 1xmr if i pool mined
-
br-m
<slowbeardigger:matrix.org> i got my -999xmr by mining on a pi zero 2w, def worth it
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> as i said, i got lucky and hit my first block days after i started, and never looked back
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> days after i started mining on the first phone*
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> Cool @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx Thanks For the Info Appreciate it Man.
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> then i added more and hit a few more. there were long stretches without a block, but i managed to always end up on the lucky side
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> At the time where would u run your node? the huge file?
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> long as in, probably at least a year without a block
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> i ran my node on a phone too
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx: Youve Got a Great Patience.
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> i didnt have a computer capable of running a node before, and the laptop i had got worse hashrate than the phone at much much higher energy costs
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> were the phones plugged in 24/7
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> so it made no sense to use the laptop to mine. it got lik 300h/s and the phone ot like 500-700
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> ?
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> plugged in with the battery removed
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> Gotcha U Made A Farm.
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> What kind of phones were they?
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> huawei,samsung s8, and a handful of other i collected
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> a samsung tablet
-
br-m
<pyratevevo:matrix.org> Block chain size was probably nothing at the time wasn't it > <@ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> i ran my node on a phone too
-
br-m
<slowbeardigger:matrix.org> ewww huawei, ewww samsung
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> it was like 55gb pruned
-
br-m
<pw:xmr.mx> huawei pros are great
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> What if there were a power cut?
-
br-m
<slowbeardigger:matrix.org> @yusufkhan:matrix.org: He lives in Israel, never loses power
-
br-m
<slowbeardigger:matrix.org> @pw:xmr.mx: were*
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> @yusufkhan:matrix.org: for the node? the phone had a battery
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> it would lose internet (wifi router would have no power), then would come back alive once power was restored
-
br-m
<yusufkhan:matrix.org> ok cool!
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> never had the database corrupt
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> these days you need a phone with atleast 256gb internal storage to run it, and my older phones cap out at 128
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> so i dont have the space to run on phone any moe
-
