<jpk68:matrix.org> For 'public' communication (as in, not private/public Matrix rooms which people may not know about), I'd say many do

I think we should not shun Zcash, but rather embrace that privacy coins are indeed the overall desire of the people right now.

But, one reason for its traction in trading, that hurts monero in trading, is not all transactions must be private, so a lot of exchanges are more willing to allow pairs with it. Not saying I wish Monero was designed that way, but if you want massive volume, more exposure on exchanges can help facilitate that. Being more niche and secure reduces the areas that are willing to host it.

<kevino:tchncs.de> riceandbeans: no , its not on many exchanges on europe
-
nioc
zec is not private, exchanges only allow the transparent version after which it is not easy to actually make it private
-
nioc
and people are buying it for ngu, not privacy

<kevino:tchncs.de> they are eventually gonna ban these type of hybrid privacy coins too
-
br-m
<kevino:tchncs.de> people hardly use zec for any real transaction though
-
br-m
<yahniukov:matrix.yahniukov.com> @kevino:tchncs.de: Agree, monero has big ecosystem of services/shops that allow to pay with xmr, zec is nowhere near that, just yet another altcoin people speculate on exchanges
-
br-m
<notafbihoneypot:matrix.org> @kevino:tchncs.de: Also Most transactions are unshielded

<notafbihoneypot:matrix.org> I think they're maybe at 30℅ and the whole thing with using a "wallet that enforces it" is silly and makes it IMO unfree
