cryptolens
Hi all - I built a free web tool that writes a structured DYOR report for any crypto token in ~30 seconds: asset profile, strengths, red flags, 12-mo scenarios, plus a verification checklist. Also has a tokenomics generator and a DCA calculator. 3 free reports/day, no signup:
cryptolensai.space-z.ai - happy to take feedback, its a side project

<torir:unredacted.org> I know screenshots are hard to see in IRC, but an epic formatting fail already on the website. The AI also failed to address my question about post quantum security. (Spoiler: Epic Cash is not post quantum ready!)
-
br-m
<torir:unredacted.org> If the product can't fact-check misleading claims that tokens make about themselves, I don't think this tool is very helpful.
-
br-m
<torir:unredacted.org> I got a better result asking Kagi's AI assistant about this sort of thing.
-
br-m
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> I remember a few years ago, when epic cash used to have paid shills hand out in monero rooms, and dm monero people to try to convince them to use epic cash

torir: thanks for the honest test - genuinely useful. The formatting fail you screenshotted is a translucent sticky header letting text bleed through: fix is committed (solid background), ships with the next deploy. On fact-checking claims: fair - the report is a first-pass structure, not an oracle; the DYOR checklist at the end exists exactly so a human verifies what the token claims about itself. Post-quantum: try putting it in the context field - the r

br-m
<torir:unredacted.org> This is gold, it doesn't even verify if the token is a real token or not.

<torir:unredacted.org> PenguinOnATrampoline doesn't exist.
-
» moneromooo suddenly looks on with interest
-
br-m
<torir:unredacted.org> Also, my earlier screenshot mistakenly had my translation browser extension left on. This one is correctly in the original Russian.
-
br-m
<torir:unredacted.org> I'm willing to guess the limit of three free requests per day is easy to bypass. Perhaps you should add a captcha before someone drains your tokens.
-

torir: both points addressed and committed just now. 1) Existence check: the tool now queries CoinGecko before generating - "PenguinOnATrampoline" gets an honest 404 instead of a hallucinated report, and canonical names are used (Epic Cash resolves to "Epic Private Internet Cash"). 2) Rate limit: added a server-side per-IP cap (12/day) on top of the 3/day device limit, so cycling client IDs no longer drains tokens. No captcha - I'd rather not add frictio

<torir:unredacted.org> Here's Kagi's AI take on it. The AI retrieved sources, including the URLs I pasted, research paper PDFs, used an advanced model capable of understanding the cryptography, and cited its sources.
-
br-m
<torir:unredacted.org> Frankly, even Nano-GPT with its web search feature would have been better.
-
br-m
<torir:unredacted.org> (For those observing, the Kimi model missed the attack of observing MimbleWimble transactions on the network before they make it into blocks, but everything else seems correct.)
-
br-m
<torir:unredacted.org> Also, perhaps it would be best to move this conversation to the #monero-offtopic channel (I hope that is the correct IRC channel name?). #monero-offtopic:monero.social for you Matrix users.
-
br-m
<torir:unredacted.org> Sorry, by the way, if I seem harsh. I'm just passionate about protecting people from crypto scams.
-
br-m
<torir:unredacted.org> So I get upset when a tool to do that doesn't do its job.

BlueyHealer
lol why are you trying to use AI as a source
-
BlueyHealer
Like, this is not really a viable argument and actually makes your point look weaker than it deserves to be.
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Who r u talkin 2
-
br-m
<torir:unredacted.org> I know. Just pointing out that compared to the state-of-the-art, this slop-coded tool is pretty lame.
-
br-m
<torir:unredacted.org> Frankly, I don't even know why I bothered anymore. Too many people using AI to code just don't know how bad the products they make are. I can't fix them all.
-
br-m
<torir:unredacted.org> Also, every message they put in this channel was written by AI, but I didn't point it out because I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they were using AI to translate.

<pyratevevo:matrix.org> Hello, @rottenwheel:unredacted.org

<pyratevevo:matrix.org> I believe you run
calc.revuo-xmr.com ?
-
br-m
<pyratevevo:matrix.org> The price hasn't been updated for at least a day. Just letting you know.
-
br-m
<rottenwheel:unredacted.org> @pyratevevo:matrix.org: Hi, I do. I will check as soon as I can. Thanks for reporting!
-
br-m
<torir:unredacted.org> @rottenwheel:unredacted.org Let me save you some time. This was probably the recent CoinGecko API change that the BasicSwapDex community just had to deal with. You can get a "demo" key for free with an account on the website, or just find a different API to use.
-
br-m
<torir:unredacted.org> Anonymous access was turned off, you need a key now. Somehow failed to actually say that.
-
br-m
<rottenwheel:unredacted.org> @torir:unredacted.org: Site's been running on a free Coingecko API thus far. It's been just dealing with some code deficiencies that I have not been able to debug, troubleshoot properly, yet. I appreciate the insights nonetheless, thanks.
-
br-m
<rottenwheel:unredacted.org> @torir:unredacted.org: Ah... hm. Well, I'll have to log into Coingecko and see what's up with what it's been running on, what I have and what I might want to adjust. =]
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> That would also explain why the coin trend app from fDroid, which I use to check prices with, isn't working anymore because it uses coin gecko.
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> @torir:unredacted.org: He has be on ignore
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> But you can recommend coinlore and coinpaprika for aggregated oracles, or kraken and kucoin for single-source ones
-
br-m
<torir:unredacted.org> @rottenwheel:unredacted.org If you are interested, BasicSwapDex updated to use these sources with automatic failover: CoinGecko, Kraken, KuCoin, MEXC, CoinLore, CoinPaprika, neroswap. CoinLore and CoinPaprika are aggregated oracles. I think the others are individual exchanges, so you only get the price that exists on that exchange.

<shortwavesurfer2009> Hey, question. I have my testnet GUI synchronized with my testnet daemon.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> I am mining to my testnet address, and it says that it has found several blocks, but I'm not seeing any transactions appearing in the GUI, and they're definitely both in sync.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> On mainnet at least you have to wait 60 blocks for an unlock, but before that time you do see the transaction is available and just locked where you can't use it.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> My testnet address is like 9...
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> At least I think on mainnet you get to see the transaction before it's actually unlocked
-
br-m
<rbrunner7> @shortwavesurfer2009:monero.social: This all should work just out of the box, with mainnet and testnet behaving absolutely identical. If it doesn't, I would speculate that there is a configuration problem somewhere, maybe so absolutely simple / stupid that your brain unconsciously always rules it out when you try to find it
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> Yeah, I'm just not sure where it could be, because I'm definitely not seeing transactions even after 60 blocks.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> Let me see if the CLI wallet says anything different.
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> youre using monero_gui and mining from the gui?
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> monero-gui*
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> what does your restore height show as in the settings -> info
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> testnet has had many issues before where the restore height was set too high
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> gui especially, since it inits the wallet against a dead daemon, which causes the height to be estimated instead of pulled from the daemon
-
br-m
<rbrunner7> They should be visible right away, just take a long, long 60 blocks to unlock, that's all the difference.
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> wont be visbible if the wallet is borked from a wrong restore height
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> if the restore height is 3 days from now, nothing before that will appear
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> Oh, I think I see what I did wrong. I think I've got the wrong restore height.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> Yep, that's the problem. I've got my restore height set to a block that hasn't been mined on mainnet yet.
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> fixed?
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> Yep. I was having my wallet restore from a block height that did not yet exist on testnet.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> Well that was fun. I wasn't expecting the GUI wallet to try to restore from a height that did not yet exist.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> The current block height is like 3,099,410 and i was trying to restore from like 3,113,000

br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> Oopse

br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> Now if only these test net coins had real value, lol. Id be rich like a muh
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> It's interesting to see the thing telling me on the status that the next fork is in 4.7 days.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> When i mine on mainnet i get micronero as my reward, but hey, micronero is better than no Monero at all
-
br-m
<rottenwheel:unredacted.org> @torir:unredacted.org: Copy that. I'll forward this to my notes. Is it cool to PM later if I happen to have a question? Thanks.
-
br-m
<torir:unredacted.org> @rottenwheel:unredacted.org: DMs are fine.
-
br-m
<rbrunner7> "Now if only these test net coins had real value, lol. Id be rich like a muh" I wrote a fiction short story about that, a read of about 20 minutes, maybe it's new for some people here:
rbrunner7.github.io/consensus.html
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> I do wonder though, the main blockchain is at like 3.6 million blocks deep, where the testnet blockchain is only at like 3.1 million blocks deep.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> Is that something that needs to be corrected? And if so, how would it be done?
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> Also, if I was comparing the Monero nets to Debian repositories, mainnet would be like Debian stable, stagenet would be like Debian testing, and testnet would be like Debian unstable. Is that an apt comparison?
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> corrected? what do you mean
-
br-m
<muffin:catgirl.cloud> @shortwavesurfer2009: i hope "an apt comparison" is not a pun here
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> @muffin:catgirl.cloud: It wasn't meant to be, but it totally could be.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx: I mean, would we need to get the testnet blockchain up to 3.6 million as well?
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> And if so, how would that be done?
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> no
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx: Ah, okay
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> Is my testnet to unstable, stagenet to testing, and mainnet to Debian stable a proper comparison of the networks to Debian repositories?
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> No
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Its more like
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> .. it depends if we're talking about the contents of the blockchain
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> Its like a jeep vs a jeep with people in it vs a jeep with more people in it. all the same jeep, just different contents
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> Oh, see, I was figuring they were used for iteration tests. So, there would be alphas and betas on testnet. Then, when it was thought to be stable, it would go on to stagenet, which would basically be a release candidate. And then, after a while on stagenet, where it was working fine, it would go to mainnet.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> If that is not the case, then what is the real difference between stage net and test net?
-
br-m
<jpk68:matrix.org> @shortwavesurfer2009: Stagenet uses the same consensus rules as mainnet (but with fake coins); testnet receives upgrades earlier for testing
-
br-m
<jpk68:matrix.org> The beta stressnet is basically a pre-testnet
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> @jpk68:matrix.org: Ah, okay
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> I do not see an option in the GUI to denominate in millinero, micronero, nanonero, or piconero. I guess only the command line interface can do that.
-
br-m
<jpk68:matrix.org> Feather supports that, I believe
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> @jpk68:matrix.org: I will have to try that at some point because I've actually never used feather.
-
h3r3t1c
feather is very easy to use
-
br-m
<jpk68:matrix.org> It's better than the regular GUI ;)
-
h3r3t1c
But I use it infrequently so it takes forever to sync when I do
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> Yeah, I just don't use many desktop wallets. I do most of my Monero on my phone.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> But we are already rapidly approaching the point where most people will be using millinero for pretty much all daily transactions.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> Just as an example, government mandated minimum wage here is 50mXMR/hr
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> Excuse me, 42mXMR/hr. I rounded and I should not have done so.
-
br-m
<pyratevevo:matrix.org> @jpk68:matrix.org: Agreed.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> Now we just need a wallet for Nura and Ubuntu touch. If written it QT/Kirigami it will work for both
-
br-m
<pyratevevo:matrix.org> Definitely didn't miss anything while this problem occured so far. Every time I go check it from other sources its somehow the same price your website is stuck on, coincidentally. > <@rottenwheel:unredacted.org> Hi, I do. I will check as soon as I can. Thanks for reporting!

br-m
<pyratevevo:matrix.org> $544 stablecoin.

<shortwavesurfer2009> 500 μXMR

<digiborg123:matrix.org> Is there a russian language monero channel?
-
omori
im a bit confused why the monero community chose matrix out of all protocols for a group chat besides irc, is there a blogpost or similar explaining this? kinda confused
-
br-m
<pyratevevo:matrix.org> omori: I think the main group chat is IRC but Matrix just happens to be able to bridge in.
-
omori
@pyratevevo yes i am aware
-
omori
just confused why one of the most security focused projects like monero chose matrix with its obvious concerns
-
br-m
<jpk68:matrix.org> A lot of these concerns aren't so concerning within the context of public chat rooms
-
plowsof
the community have groups on many platforms, what is your favourite? there is likely a group there
-
br-m
<pyratevevo:matrix.org> omori: You say you're aware but then reply with something that doesn't really indicate that you are.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> Yeah, there are Monero chats pretty much everywhere. I am personally on the SimpleX one more often than not.
-
br-m
<kevino:tchncs.de> There is a group on xmpp too !
-
br-m
<kevino:tchncs.de> xmpp better with metadata than matrix
-
br-m
<kevino:tchncs.de> There is monero .town too i think if you prefer activity pub forum style discussion
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> And Stasher.News is a competitor to Monero.Town.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> I think it also kind of depends on how fast you want your answer, if you want your answer super fast, here on Matrix, or IRC, is the best, because there are lots of people bridged into this room, whereas if you want it a little slower, but want to be a little bit more private, something like Simple X would be better, and then, [... too long, see
mrelay.p2pool.observer/e/47qC6K8LdUlhNmd0 ]
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> I tried using IRC once, and it just wasn't for me.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> On IRC if you're offline you just miss messages unless you have like a bouncer server that you connect to as an intermediate that stores the messages for you and then gives them to your client when it returns. And that was just too much work to set up for not enough gain.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> I just didn't grow up when IRC was the big thing in use, and so I never learned a lot of how all that worked.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> Now, admittedly, maybe the way to solve that is just to have an IRC client that goes into the background properly and always stays connected, similar to how SimpleX does. But even simplex has retrieval if you are offline and come back on.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> That, and with IRC, it seems too trivially easy to shoot yourself in the foot and leak your IP address to everybody. At least, on other services, the only thing that knows your actual IP address is the server you are communicating with, and not everybody in the chat.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> I know IRC has cloaks, but that's something that has to be turned on, and is not on by default. So, foot gun.
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> you just need a better client > <@shortwavesurfer2009> I tried using IRC once, and it just wasn't for me.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx: That is definitely possible.
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> retrieving messages that came in while you were offline = idk. but there are clients that you can login to from anywhere, and have all of the messages
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx: A lot of those services are cloud-based from what I understand, and if I was going to do IRC, I was going to do it right.
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> you can do ithe "cloud based" one from home
-
br-m
<mehrdad_shaeri:matrix.org> @shortwavesurfer2009: at least on android I tried a bunch of themall of them had some sort of bugs or incompatibility with server software
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> @mehrdad_shaeri:matrix.org: Yeah, I ran across that same thing, and especially since I was limiting myself to only those available from FDroid
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> FOSS or GTFO
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> I must admit, I'm a little bit concerned about what's going to happen when I switch to Nura (formerly PostMarketOS) and SimpleX. They obviously have an Android mobile app and I know they have a Linux desktop app But I don't know if the Linux desktop app is going to shrink down and fit properly on a Linux mobile phone.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> But my next phone will be a Linux phone.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> Google is trying to kill AOSP, and I'm not going to stick around and be the last one off of the sinking ship.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> There are no Monero wallets compatible with Nura except for the command line wallet, which is why I am teaching myself to use the command line wallet.
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> @mehrdad_shaeri:matrix.org: webui
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> I would rather not use the command line wallet, but needs must.
-

<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> they have a terminal app too > <@shortwavesurfer2009> I must admit, I'm a little bit concerned about what's going to happen when I switch to Nura (formerly PostMarketOS) and SimpleX. br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> simplex does*
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx: Ah, will have to try that out then
-
br-m
<mehrdad_shaeri:matrix.org> @ofrnxmr:xmr.mx: I tried that and having a full browser (or pwa) open just for chat was not an enjoiable experience
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr:xmr.mx> with what client?
-
br-m
<mehrdad_shaeri:matrix.org> It was on the sever that hosted IRC

br-m
<mehrdad_shaeri:matrix.org> I dont remember the name for it
-
br-m
<jpk68:matrix.org> Libera? Freenode?
-
br-m
<mehrdad_shaeri:matrix.org> @jpk68:matrix.org: libera chat
-
br-m
<mehrdad_shaeri:matrix.org> I think it was kiwiIRC
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> I want to say i was using goguma.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> When i tried irc
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> I guess I do need to figure out what matrix clients are on Nura. Or IRC as a fallback.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> As I said earlier though, I spend most of my time on SimpleX.
-
br-m
<jpk68:matrix.org> Goguma is very nice
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> It's really crazy to think that I'm going to abandon Android entirely after like 14 years
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> I am pretty certain I will not be getting a Linux compatible phone before 2027, and so that would be 14 years that I've had Android.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> I really wish there was a way to browse the Nura App Store without actually being on Nura. That would be very helpful.
-
br-m
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> Though this might be a start.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> Oh look, some of these are cross compatible with Android and Nura. I recognize both Hexchat and goguma
-
br-m
-
br-m
<mehrdad_shaeri:matrix.org>
pkgs.nura.eco/packagesthis? > <@shortwavesurfer2009> I really wish there was a way to browse the Nura App Store without actually being on Nura. That would be very helpful.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> @mehrdad_shaeri:matrix.org: We'll check that one out. Thank you.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> Okay, that wiki actually looks pretty good because it has some definite replacements for Matrix, it has some IRC, and it looks like at least some stuff that I'm used to using is already there and works fine on mobile, which is good.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> I think moving to Linux Mobile will be both easier and harder than I expect.
-
slave_blocker
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> Now we just need a GUI Monero wallet on NUra.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> Nura*
-
br-m
<muffin:catgirl.cloud> there is probably one already that works fine
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> If there is, I'm not aware of it.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> If you install WayDroid, you can use any of the Android wallets, but I don't want to do that. I'd like to see something native.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> As more people abandon Android, it will probably happen.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> And I tried searching the packages site for monero and got nothing, so there appears to be nothing prepackaged.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> monero
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> *monero*
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> There we go. Damn escape characters.
-
BlueyHealer
Really don't like the name change because it's so bland. Sounds like a vtuber name :/
-
br-m
<321bob321> That's why there is monero binary, too many os and repo that would have to be maintained
-
br-m
<321bob321> There is a new os every week
-
br-m
<321bob321> And browser
-
br-m
<pyratevevo:matrix.org> Whats making you make the move definitively ? > <@shortwavesurfer2009> It's really crazy to think that I'm going to abandon Android entirely after like 14 years
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> @pyratevevo:matrix.org: Google is stopping AOSP from getting monthly security updates in favor of only giving them quarterly security updates while the standard Android gets monthly security updates.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> Then, if you are unfortunate enough to be on a standard Android device, in order to install whatever application you want, you have to go in and disable a setting, wait 24 hours, reboot your phone, and make sure to go in within the proper hour, and continue the process, otherwise you have to do it all again, and they're just trying to stop people from installing whatever applications they want.
-
br-m
<shortwavesurfer2009> Eventually, they're just going to stop publishing AOSP, and then pay a fine for it, and continue on with Android as a fully closed source project, and then there will be no more Lineage OS, or Graphene OS, etc. And if you're not already off of Android by that time, you're just going to be absolutely fucked.
-
