i have been having severe issues for over a week with my balance saying 0 after ive sent 3 transactions to my wallet and now it takes forever to sync repeatedly

do you know what mode your wallet is in (advanced / simple)?

it is on whonix. i heard there is a bug in virtual machines on github

does your gui say your local daemon is synchronised?

not sure if it matters the OS the wallet is installed on. could be something else

it takes forever to synchronize and then when it does, it stays synced for 5 minutes and then takes hours to synchronize again. but thats only after i updated the wallet gui and recovered my wallet usinig mnemonic seed

can you go to settings -> log

was your local daemon ever synchronised ? if not, your balance will never appear

yes its been syncronized and it still never appeared. i also tried rescanning the wallet balance as well as changing the restore height to a date previous of when the transactions were sent to my wallet

yep, to be more exact you can even choose the block before the payment had its first confirmation

so , your not-yet-synced-monerod aside. do you have the txid from payments you where sent

it was from kraken and there is a transaction id associated with each withdrawal but when i enter it into xmrchain.net nothing comes up

right let me think if kraken give txids

they call it a hash too i guess but i dont know how to find that in order to verify that the transaction is on the blockchain

is their page broken (normally they have the txid and a link to block explorer (for other coins))

but, if its from kraken, and the address matches, we dont need to worry that you received the funds , theyre reputable

i have been debating contacting support at kraken. they have really good support but just didnt feel comfortable discussing this issue with them

for now, its just that your monerod isn't synced , its possible that your wallet was connected to your local node / fully synced - and as you describe -

so your wallet is synced up with the 'not synced monerod' which updates intermittently as you describe

ok , you can connect to a tor node , but im not sure about your setup

users can 'open a tor browser' then go into the gui settings -> interface and click on Socks proxy, and set the local port to 9051 or 9050

opening the tor browser starts the tor proxy automagically

but you can use the clearnet node i listed above to sync your wallet

you can 'spend' from a tor node for extra privacy later

very interesting. not sure if my gui is running through tor right now but its installed on whonix OS which i think is supposed to do everything through tor

there is a site 'monero.fail' but those nodes are not vetted, and rogue ones are there also

yes that list is used by feather wallet (reputable wallet)

if you added the tor node and it says disconnected, then .... i dont know how whonix works. maybe monero gui isnt configured to use it and needs the socks proxy set
