<chch3003:monero.social> Hello guys :) I recieve notifications, have read all the messages. So we have two managers Diego Salazar: and monerobull @monerobull:monero.social: to coordinate a workgroup and still having the same endless debate about Astro and javascript. I am glad that my CCSs donations are used wisely :)

<monerobull:monero.social> tihi
-
m-relay
<monerobull:monero.social> i think we have a decent approach planned for now
-
m-relay
<monerobull:monero.social> set up the design tool, worry about the implementation later
-
m-relay
<chch3003:monero.social> You mean the scheduled meeting ?
-
m-relay
<monerobull:monero.social> no, what we talked about yesterday
-
m-relay
<chch3003:monero.social> Personnally I prefer to communicate async. It's annoying to commit to meetings.
-
m-relay
<chch3003:monero.social> Yeah I dont see which conclusions emerge from yesterday
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> thats because the conclusion is my head canon :D
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> There is basically no obstacle at using Astro, it's just that monero devs have expressed concerns but at my understanding over misconceptions
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> They don't know about SSG with Vite and all that, and since the current website is written with Jekyll... It just need to be told, probably next meeting
-
m-relay
<monerobull:matrix.org> people would go "hurr durr the feds have compromised monero" if we add anything with java in the name
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> If we start caring about people's opinions based on misconceptions then the project is already dead
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> it's very easy to make a reddit post saying:
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> *We're working on a new website with the Astro javascript Framework. And no, this doesn't mean javascript is included whatsoever. It's a SSG framework, so at the end everything are just plain HTML/CSS files*
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> *Don't you worry about Tor Browser safest mode*
-
m-relay
<chch3003:monero.social> 🙌
-
m-relay
<321bob321:monero.social> 1. works with no-js
-
m-relay
<321bob321:monero.social> 2. people can easily contribute, without uni degree
-
m-relay
<chch3003:monero.social> Yep so many people will criticize without knowing anything, without trying to inform themselves.
-
m-relay
<chch3003:monero.social> We could have two websites also...
-
m-relay
<321bob321:monero.social> chain split
-
m-relay
<chch3003:monero.social> That's the way
-
m-relay
<chch3003:monero.social> Can setup a Kuno
-
m-relay
<321bob321:monero.social> probably confuse people
-
m-relay
<321bob321:monero.social> like monerodevs
-
m-relay
<321bob321:monero.social> tbh
-
m-relay
<321bob321:monero.social> website wont change to astro
-
m-relay
<chch3003:monero.social> Maybe but the result would be better without all the technical constraints
-
m-relay
<321bob321:monero.social> your ccs got nuked by core
-
m-relay
<321bob321:monero.social> its wishful thinking by new website ceo and community pa
-
m-relay
<chch3003:monero.social> Luigii didn't say that exactly but yeah, that's why I am saying we can have an other alternative website.
-
m-relay
<321bob321:monero.social> see plowsof got coolify to work instead of using netlify, doubt they'll change to it
-
m-relay
<chch3003:monero.social> That doesnt matter. You can use Astro on Coolify
-
m-relay
<321bob321:monero.social> yeah i know, but they wont change
-
m-relay
<321bob321:monero.social> also look at this stupidity
github.com/monero-project/monero-docs
-
m-relay
<321bob321:monero.social> could of forked monerodocs and use mkdocs
-
m-relay
<321bob321:monero.social> for instance drop downs dont work on just-for-docs with safest mode
-
m-relay
<chch3003:monero.social> Need full CSS dropdowns like the demo
-
m-relay
<chch3003:monero.social> Well, I think it's not a bad idea to have current website tor compatible, no-js, nuclear war resistant. And a second website with js, without all those constraints, and we focus on usability and content, to be a real hub for the community. Also would allow us being less serious, having a meme section for example.
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> As much as I love Astro (your demo website have been entry point into javascript world thx again), there is no way core is accepting a second website that is *less serious* it will have to be a CCS backed user-owned website.
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> I'm all for it, but I don't think it'll ever be accepted. You can still ask tho
-
m-relay
<chch3003:monero.social> Yes I am not asking their permission
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> oh
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> alright, if you feel like it then go ahead.
-
m-relay
<321bob321:monero.social> As long as its domain is getmonero._____
-
m-relay
<321bob321:monero.social> Isnt*
-
m-relay
<chch3003:monero.social> In my opinion they look like normal websites. I do understand why we would like to keep the 90's design, feels more "open-source", "grassroot". But it doesn't appeal to everyone.
-
m-relay
<syntheticbird:monero.social> I like polkadot design, but I hate thorchain one for sure
-
m-relay
<diego:cypherstack.com> We've had a day. :)
-
m-relay
<basses:matrix.org> whom should I bribe to remove MyMonero from the website?
-
m-relay
<chch3003:monero.social> I didn't get what you mean
-
m-relay
<monerobull:monero.social> depends on if you can outbid fluffy or not /s
-
m-relay
<diego:cypherstack.com> Meaning mb and I have had a single day where we've taken part in these discussions. I understand Monero stuff moves at a glacial pace, and so circling back to the beginning can be very very frustrating.
-
m-relay
<diego:cypherstack.com> I really do. I lived and breathed Monero for years and that was my reality.
-
m-relay
<diego:cypherstack.com> But give just a bit more patience as we tackle a few things in the first couple of weeks here. :)
-
m-relay
<diego:cypherstack.com> I'm doing my own research here now, but can you describe why you think astro over other static site generators?
-
m-relay
<kinghat:matrix.org> 11ty:
11ty.dev
-
m-relay
<diego:cypherstack.com> Alright. As requested, I've contacted luigi about opening up github Discussions on monero-site, and he did so
-
m-relay
-
m-relay
-
m-relay
<basses:matrix.org> does general changes to monero-site deployed when there's a new release of monero software? plowsof
-
plowsof
normally site deploy is independent of new monero release - but as a new release is imminent it's just convenient. previously core / bF has shared their dislike for deploying site too often because of [redacted actions that are done to deploy where mistakes can be made/extra risks taken]
-
m-relay
<321bob321:monero.social> Pr was in may
-
m-relay
<321bob321:monero.social> Give plowsof merge powers!
