johny_
plowsof, in fact it was not fork_version property that made it works, just restarting monero-lws changed get_unspent_outs response with spend_key_images and it was not there before, do you know why I have to restart it to make it work?
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr> Cc @vtnerd:monero.social
-
br-m
<vtnerd> johny_: I thought you previously said you were using openmonero? Did you switch?
-
johny_
vtnerd yes I am trying monero-lws now
-
johny_
vtnerd right now I went back to your commit from last July the 24th to see if it was working better, I am wondering if this thing has ever worked
-
johny_
nop it does work better with ecf3067, I am giving up for the moment
-
johny_
vtnerd I wanted to know why I have to restart monero-lws to get spend_key_images property from get_unspent_outs response for the new tx, I don't understand why you are asking me if I did switch :-/
-
br-m
<vtnerd> The spend_key_images are possible spends. They are not the images being spent in that tx, rather they are the potential spends from future txes
-
br-m
<vtnerd> Your new tx has an empty list because that particular output was never used in a ring signature, and therefore could not be spent
-
johny_
vtnerd I am not sure spend_key_images is the source of my issue but I have noticed after restarting, this property was there for outputs and it was not there before restarting
-
johny_
vtnerd I cannot spend my funds using mymonero-web-js if I don't restart monero-lws, that's my issue
-
br-m
<vtnerd> If you aren't using --daemon-sub then lws polls for new blocks. This will cause a delay in showing results. Restarting simply refetches newest blocks everytime
-
johny_
vtnerd ok thank you I am going to try that
-
johny_
vtnerd I just made a try with daemon sub but it was not working better, btw it is --sub and not --daemon-sub?
-
BlueyHealer
but also doesnt believe privacy exsists as devices are born compromised <- Was there ever evidence proprietary architectures by themselves were a *passive* surveillance danger? Like, I get the issues, but it's weird to claim that outright "privacy doesn't exist".
-
br-m
<stormyyy:stormyyy.xyz> meownero
-
br-m
<vtnerd> It probably is just --sub , make sure to use the pub side on the daemon

<fungible.:matrix.org> @diego:cypherstack.com: is your stackwallet more trusted than cakewallet nowadays? last time (few years ago) you released some binaries as some alpha version type thing in those channels, tried it very briefly and at the time had to let you know that i had to change my firewall rules to allow out (cause "default deny outgoing") so it could connect to somewhere, just to launch the wallet
-
br-m
<fungible.:matrix.org> like, couldnt generate a wallet without it having to connect to the internet, did you fix that since?
-
br-m
<fungible.:matrix.org> like at this point i dont even know what to shill lmao
-
br-m
<fungible.:matrix.org> was able to shill the CLI to monero community, that was fine
-
br-m
<fungible.:matrix.org> but to the broader communities, cake been easier to shill, good UX and shits type thing...
-
Cindy
mobile wallets are safe depending on your device
-
Cindy
if you use it on a chinese no-name phone, you deserve to be hacked
-
Cindy
like honestly pick a secure device
-
Cindy
also ofrnxmr, thanks for the key images API
-
br-m
<fungible.:matrix.org> Cindy: Cindy_ @Syndi or whatever that other spelling @fbfa3bd15e surprised confirmed fed that shills IRC is still around, no wonder u out here saying phones are secure smh
-
Cindy
call me by my nickserv username if you can't keep up :P
-
Cindy
which might be visible on matrix?
-
br-m
-
br-m
<fungible.:matrix.org> (use a privacy respecting youtube frontend)
-
br-m
<fungible.:matrix.org> phones are not secure
-
Cindy
i said "depending on your device"
-
Cindy
most phones don't even meet the security standard
-
Cindy
because they don't put any budget towards it
-
Cindy
the only few phones i can think of are google pixels
-
Cindy
any budget or effort*
-
BlueyHealer
not to mention most phones spend most of their life EOL because the updates are tied to the manufacturer and you can't install an alternative OS...
-
Cindy
^
-
br-m
<fungible.:matrix.org> was always able to install cyanogenmod.... idk what u talking about tbh
-
br-m
<fungible.:matrix.org> anyways, back to watching the youtube or whatever idk
-
br-m
<fungible.:matrix.org> latta o/
-
Cindy
even if you setup everything right on a crappy phone, the feds can just find a vulnerability in the bootloader
-
Cindy
and compromise the ROM within
-
BlueyHealer
Isn't Cyanogenmod an old thing by now? The one I hear about the most is Lineage, but the problem is that a lot of common manufacturers don't even allow bootloader unlocking.
-
Cindy
fungible.: well, think, how have you been able to install cyanogenmod? :P
-
Cindy
if you didn't unlock your bootloader officially, you probably used a tool that exploited a vulnerability within the bootloader
-
BlueyHealer
ye it's been discontinued for a decade now
-
Cindy
to unlock it
-
BlueyHealer
I mean Cyanogen - Wiki says it's been developed between 2009 and 2016.
-
br-m
<fungible.:matrix.org> right, proves the point, phones not secure
-
Cindy
crappy phones not secure
-
BlueyHealer
github.com/zenfyrdev/bootloader-unlock-wall-of-shame - it's pretty bad. Xiaomi is technically possible but in practice effectively not, for example.
-
Cindy
the good ones are the ones that nobody can unlock outside the official way
-
Cindy
and even then, there are a lot more on top of that
-
Cindy
(excluding those phone manufacturers like Xiaomi that fucking suck)
-
BlueyHealer
Huawei doesn't even have the "technicality" that Xiaomi does
-
Cindy
RDLOCK is the unlock method that can only be done by service centers and the factory
-
Cindy
and it's permanent
-
Cindy
so what chinese people would do, is take their huawei phones to repair and snatch the phone out of their hands after they've done RDLOCK
-
BlueyHealer
The clips I've seen were marked as Xiaomi, but might be that the same applies to Huawei too.
-
BlueyHealer
The fact that they take such risks makes me wonder - just how hard it is to get a phone there that unlocks more sanely? Like, maybe one that's not sold officially. I tried searching, but haven't found a coherent answer, at least in English.
-
johny__
vtnerd how do you know that sub setting worked? there is nothing in the logs at startup?? my issue is still there and I would like to fix it, I have added --zmq-pub=tcp://127.0.0.1:18084 to monerod and --sub=tcp://127.0.0.1:18084 to monero-lws
-
johny__
plowsof you don't have the same issue as me? you are able to send the funds right after transaction is confirmed?
-
br-m
<plowsof:matrix.org> johny__ ive found that i have to wait a long time to where i think 'does this even work / is it broken?' when i receive funds and waiting to spend them - eventually though im able to send
-
johny__
plowsof does that mean you have the same issue as me?
-
plowsof
if this is specifically about monero-lws being slow when funds are unlocked and should be spendable (balance taking time to update etc) then yes, same issue. is this a known issue vtnerd?
-
Cindy
can you merge-mine to multiple addresses in p2pool?
-
Cindy
or is that like dumb
-
Cindy
i wanted to like split my hashrate across some addresses as donation
-
br-m
<fungible.:matrix.org> smh
-
johny__
plowsof are you able to see zmq sub logs if you switch to log level 3? I can't find any
-
DataHoarder
Hey do you mean Cindy
-
DataHoarder
What*
-
DataHoarder
Merge mine to multiple?
-
DataHoarder
You mean give % off to each one?
-
DataHoarder
go-p2pool allows you to specify the address via --user field on stratum directlt
-
DataHoarder
Makes this easier to do, can mine at the same time on different addresses
-
br-m
<diego:cypherstack.com> Try it out! We are indeed in a much better place than a few years ago > <@fungible.:matrix.org> like at this point i dont even know what to shill lmao
-
Cindy
DataHoarder: yes, give % off to each one
-
DataHoarder
you can implement a wrapper over that tbh
-
DataHoarder
or edit the stratum select on my code :D
-
DataHoarder
it handles switching user better (designed for it)
-
Cindy
honestly, at a level above the p2pool server
-
DataHoarder
yeah. but C p2pool won't let you do that as easy
-
DataHoarder
with go p2pool you can just change xmrproxy code or something else
-
Cindy
i wanted to see if like xmrig could do this for example
-
DataHoarder
use api to look at share % instead of just time mining
-
Cindy
like merge mine from different servers
-
DataHoarder
merge mine is something that the underlying program that generates the work has to do
-
DataHoarder
not xmrig
-
DataHoarder
xmrig mainly just churns through nonces in an efficient manner
-
Cindy
hm
-
Cindy
well, xmrig has a 1% donate thing
-
Cindy
could that be modified to allow hashrate sharing across different servers
-
DataHoarder
--donate 0 :D
-
Cindy
no i mean like
-
DataHoarder
it's single time
-
DataHoarder
but yes
-
DataHoarder
you can specify donation target
-
Cindy
80% to server A, 10% to server B, 10% to server C
-
DataHoarder
that allows you two 50/50 :)
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr> it just switched the pool address for 1min / 100mins
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> Not on gentoo
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> -donate USE (I think)
-
Cindy
exactly, and i was thinking if the time sharing thing could be used to mine for multiple servers
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr> You can split work to many diff addresses by just tunning xmrig N times
-
Cindy
instead of just one (and occassionally the donate server)
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr> Running*
-
DataHoarder
you can do that on xmrig-proxy tbh
-
Cindy
ofrnxmr: each of the xmrigs allocate their own dataset and stuff, that'd be a waste of RAM
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr> U sure?
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> @ofrnxmr: Yeah. And just set a different number of cores for the different xmrig
-
Cindy
well i don't think xmrig takes advantage of shared memory
-
Cindy
so each one has their own dataset
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> So more trashing?
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr> would have to re-test it, but i used to do this all the time
-
br-m
<vtnerd> plowsof: This is not a known issue. There are people using it for immediate webhook notifications with no known delays
-
Cindy
DataHoarder: well good to hear
-
plowsof
sgp_^
-
br-m
<vtnerd> johny__: There aren't any specific logs afaik, should probably add some, rather the notification about block scanning will immediately trigger if zmq pub/sub is working correctly
-
br-m
<kekzploit:matrix.org> Guys is there some Linux ARM build?
-
Cindy
kekzploit: for what
-
br-m
<stormyyy:stormyyy.xyz> @kekzploit:matrix.org: you mean like linux distros that work on ARM?
-
Cindy
monero has linux ARM builds
-
Cindy
and RISC-V builds too
-
br-m
<stormyyy:stormyyy.xyz> Cindy: ... this makes more sense than what my brain thought
-
Cindy
lol
-
br-m
<kekzploit:matrix.org> yes just for the raspberry pi
-
Cindy
you haven't mentioned what program specifically though
-
br-m
<kekzploit:matrix.org> im trying to import blockchain.raw but getting issues
-
Cindy
is it monerod? monero wallet gui?
-
br-m
-
br-m
<hooftly:matrix.org> There is a linux armv8 build available
-
br-m
<kekzploit:matrix.org> sorry, monerod and all the extras, Linux RPI5, ubuntu server
-
br-m
<kekzploit:matrix.org> with an i2p proxy to top it off
-
Cindy
yes monero offers builds for armv7 and armv88
-
Cindy
armv8*
-
br-m
<kekzploit:matrix.org> thanks guys
-
Cindy
if that doesn't really fit your arch, you can always compile yourself
-
br-m
<kekzploit:matrix.org> arm 7 or 8 for rpi5?
-
br-m
<kekzploit:matrix.org> 8
-
Cindy
RPI5 has ARMv8
-
br-m
<vtnerd> @vtnerd: There should be a warning message if the pub/sub isn't working. Lws will indicate a timeout for pub/sub occurred
-
johny__
vtnerd I made the changes you advised me but I am still unable to send the funds right after the tx is confirmed, plowsof is also saying he has same issue, would it be possible to know what we are doing wrong?
-
johny__
vtnerd I have no warning message that pub sub isn't working and I have a good computer
-
br-m
<ofrnxmr> What wallet r u using?
-
johny__
I am using monero-lws with mymonero-web-js
-
johny__
everything is working great except the issue I have mentioned
-
br-m
<kojikyo:matrix.org> I have a question, are mobile wallet app like phantom secure ?
-
Cindy
depends on your phone
-
Cindy
like literally that's what it comes down to
-
Cindy
security of these apps don't mean anything if your phone has the security of a cheeto lock on a door
-
br-m
<kojikyo:matrix.org> Cindy: Well my phone probably sucks at security, it's an old huawei. Should I just use wallet on a pc, or is there way to do is safely ?
-
Cindy
use wallet on a PC i guess
-
Cindy
does your PC have Secure Boot?
-
br-m
<kojikyo:matrix.org> Cindy: yeah, it's pretty recent so i guess it do
-
Cindy
you can encrypt your drive with LUKS and also enroll your linux distro's keys into secure boot
-
Cindy
that should provide good security against unauthorized software modification and such
-
Cindy
(that a old huawei phone wouldn't have :P)
-
br-m
<kojikyo:matrix.org> Cindy: But if i just want to use cryptos a little, nothing really important and not much money, would it be a problem to use my phone ?
-
Cindy
well if you don't consider it very important then sure
-
Cindy
it's all about threat model
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> Cindy: can also use the tpm.
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> To detivate your key basec on gpg encrypted payload + content of some of the PCR registers
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> Be careful what pcr register to use.
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> One of them get altered by cmos change and another by efi partition (so bootloader update change it).
-
br-m
<ravfx:xmr.mx> PCR 7 is based on secureboot validity so maybe only that one can be used
